2009 / 2010 Domestic Season ends on 30th April

Created on: 28 Apr 2010
The 2009 – 2010 Domestic Season ends on Friday 30th April (Athletics New Zealand By-Law) and the 2010 - 2011 Domestic Season commences on Saturday 1st May going through until 30th April 2011. The Ranking lists for the 2009 – 2010 Domestic Season will therefore close and any new performances achieved after 30th April 2010 will be included in the 2010 – 2011 Domestic Season lists.

A number of athletes will therefore also change age group on the 1st May 2010. Athletes born in or after 1994 will be M/W16; Athletes born in 1991, 1992, and 1993 will be M/W19; and athletes born in 1990 or earlier will be SM/SW.

The Calendar Year lists remain unchanged as the 2010 Calendar Year lists run from 1st January – 31st December 2010.

Please notify any errors / omissions to stats@athletics.org.nz

Delay in processing performances onto Ranking Lists

Created on: 12 Mar 2010
I will be away from my computer from early evening Friday 12th March until late on Tuesday 16th March. This will result in a delay in listing performances onto the Ranking Lists from competitions held over the weekend. I will endeavor to process the performances from these competitions as soon as possible after the 16th March.

Ranking Lists updated as at 10 March 2010

Created on: 10 Mar 2010
Over 700 performances have been added to the Ranking Lists over the past few days as a result of performances from competitions in New Zealand and overseas over the weekend 5, 6, 7 March. Please let me know (stats@athletics.co.nz) of any omissions or corrections. One of the main reasons for omissions is that an athlete is not registered with Athletics New Zealand.

The Athletics New Zealand ranking lists are regularly updated. When looking at data on the ranking lists you should note:

  1. The ranking lists cover either the New Zealand Domestic Season/s (1 May - 30 April) or the Calendar Year/s (1 January - 31 December). Listed performances commenced on 1st April 2008.

  1. Only athletes who are currently registered on the Athletics New Zealand Membership database will be ranked. Athletes who take only one-day registration for events will not appear in the ranking lists.

  1. Minimum performances have been established for each event and age group for ranking purposes. However, these are constantly reviewed. Performances by an athlete with a performance below the minimum established performance will not be listed. SEE HERE

  1. Also by clicking on an athletes name in a ranking list will give a profile of that athlete together with a list of rank-able performances for the season. Performances below the minimum established performance standard will not be shown in this profile.

  1. Standard abbreviations (ATFS / IAAF) are used to denote performances.

  1. Hand-timed performances. Performances that are hand timed are designated
by "ht" after the performance. However, the time displayed is shown to a
1/100th of a second. Correctly the hand-timed performance is to a 1/10th of
a second and therefore the last zero of the displayed time should be
    disregarded.

  1. Place in competition. Because of the very different ways in which results
are presented it is sometimes difficult to represent the actual finishing
place that the athlete achieved in the competition. Sometimes results are
listed in finishing order of the event. In other circumstances different age
groups compete in the same event and age group finishing positions are
given - in other sets of results they are not differentiated in this manner.
Similarly in mixed gender competitions, some results are presented with the
finishing position given by both /or either of gender and by age group,
whilst other sets of results do not differentiate between finishing order of
gender and / or age group. There are also cases where results are "grouped"
by event, rather than in the individual events they were actually competed
in. Caution therefore needs to be exercised in the interpretation of
finishing order in some events / competitions.

  1. In order to keep the ranking list current and accurate, athletes or coaches are advised to contact stats@athletics.org.nz with any omissions, corrections or queries. Once the data has been verified or otherwise then the performance will be listed or the respondent will be advised as to the reason for the ommission.
